In progress

This site is still being built

You are looking at a work in progress. Below the hero the page stops being a finished website and becomes a drawing of one, on purpose. The unbuilt parts are sketched and each says what is going there.

Commissioning works today, and the email reaches me directly.

A dark bedroom at night, drawn in loose sketch linework. A figure sits at a desk with their back turned, drawing on a tablet. The tablet is the only light in the room, and the red shape on its screen is the only colour in the frame.

Taking bookings now for work starting after January 2027

Concept, design, build and ship. One person, from the first sketch to the thing running in production. Tell me what you need and I will tell you straight whether I am the right person to make it.

What I take on

Four kinds of work with one throughline. Most commissions touch more than one of them, and the point of hiring one person is that nothing gets lost in the handover between them.

Concept and UX

Working out what the thing actually is before anyone draws it. Research, structure, and the argument for why this shape rather than the obvious one.

Design and identity

Visual design, brand and design systems. Type, colour and components that still hold up on the fortieth screen, not just the first.

Web build

Sites and front ends, built and deployed. Plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript where that is the right answer, which is more often than people expect.

Apps and tooling

Android, Node and self-hosted infrastructure. Internal tools, pipelines, and the quiet things that simply have to keep running.

How a commission works

Being drawn

The first step works today. The rest is settled in shape but not in wording, so it is not written down yet, and nothing here is a term.

Step one

You send a brief

Right now that is an email. There is no form yet, and a few paragraphs in your own words is genuinely enough to start a conversation.

Step two

We agree the scope

Gate Not written. Until it is, this step happens in an email thread like any other conversation.

Step three

It goes in writing

Gate Blocked on deciding what a commission and a contract actually need to say. This is the reason the rest of the site is a sketch.

Step four

I build it

Gate Waiting on step three. How the work is handed over is part of what the contract has to define.

Not built yet

Wireframe

Three blocks that are planned and empty. They are drawn here rather than hidden, because a page that quietly omits its rates is less honest than one that admits it has not set them.

Block

Selected commissions

A short list of commissioned projects, each shown with the brief that started it.

Gate Nothing goes here until there are commissions that came in through this page. Finished client work is on studioabat.com in the meantime.

Block

Rates and capacity

What the work costs, and how many commissions I can run at once.

Gate No figures published, because none are set. The start date is the one part that is settled: work begins after January 2027. Ask in the email and you will get a straight answer for your specific project.

Block

Terms

Ownership, revisions, cancellation, and what happens when a project changes shape halfway through.

Gate Not written. Nothing on this page is a term or an offer, and anything agreed before it exists gets agreed in writing between us directly.

None of that is required to start.

The unfinished parts above are mine to solve, not yours to wait for. If you have something you want made, the email below works today and it comes straight to me. The work itself starts after January 2027, so the good briefs are the ones that arrive early.
